More InfoPalm City Farms Stormwater Master PlanningThe purpose of this project is to develop a stormwater management master plan for the Palm City Farms area. The original development of the area included the construction of a backbone drainage system of canals and ditches that interconnected the various basins and creeks. The original development of the drainage system included creating the Palm City Farms Drainage District in 1919, but this drainage district went defunct in the 1950’s and maintenance and ownership of many parts within the Palm City farms drainage system were handed back to the private landowners. The Palm City Farms area has transitioned from large tracts of agricultural land to the current land use of a 5-acre homestead. A majority of the area falls within the FEMA Floodplain. As land use has changed, these systems may need to be re-evaluated for function, flood protection, and water quality, through a new stormwater management master plan. Please view the FAQ link below for additional information. Several smaller projects that were identified as critical by this modeling effort have been completed since the start of the design. These projects include: - Repair of a historic berm in Western Danforth/Bessey Basins. - Replacement of an undersized culvert within Danforth Creek - Cleaning of box culverts in Danforth & Mapp Creek BasinsIn DesignEnvironmental & StormwaterDistrict 5District 5
